Bees in the D Workshop - Postponed (new date TBD)

Ever wonder what’s actually happening inside that honey bee hive?? Brian from Bees in the D will lead us in this workshop diving deep into the lives of honey bees, their importance, what they do and why we need them. Attendees will suit up and learn about the practice of beekeeping. Also included in this presentation is information on which plants are best to grow in your garden to attract and benefit all pollinators. Julia from Willa Rose Floral will take us on a garden walk to point out some of her favorite pollinator plants. We will start our own bee balm plants that everyone will go home with to nurture and watch grow.

Brian Peterson-Roest is the co-founder and president of Bees in the D, a non-profit organization devoted to the education and conservation of Honey Bees and other pollinators in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. He has been a 5th grade teacher at Musson Elementary School in Rochester Hills for 21 years and has both a masters and specialist degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from Oakland University. Brian is an Adjunct Professor at Oakland University and President of the Michigan Science Teacher Association.
